FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions to give a quick intro and overview.
What is Help Lee Jung Hee (HLJH)?
HLJH is several online groups and individuals who respond in a supportive manner to the claims made by LJH. Although most world-wide supporters operate separately, some do occasionally work together. Also, the majority of supporters - including this website - aims at gathering information and spreading awareness of the case, whereas certain Naver Cafe groups work directly with LJH, which includes legal support and guidance.
Internationally, LJH's case is known as 'Help Lee Jung Hee', while in Korean it is '세모자' (3-mother-and-sons).
Then, who is Lee Jung Hee (LJH)?
'Lee Jung Hee' is the alias of a South Korean woman in her 40's, who is also the mother of two sons. LJH claims that for 20 years she had been abused and forced into prostitution by her husband, father-in-law and family.
How did the case begin?
LJH met her to-be-husband, a priest, while she was still in high school. They married when she was 22, after he raped and impregnated her. She was forced to get an abortion and was brought to California, where she later gave birth to two sons.
From the beginning of the marriage, LJH got abused, drugged and 'rented out' to other people by her husband.
What about the sons of LJH?
LJH's sons, aged 16 and 12 (17 and 13 in Korean age; names withheld), were born in California and are U.S. citizens. The abuse of them started when they were around 5-6 years old. Like with LJH, they were abused, drugged and sold by their father. According to the claims, the sons were raped by 300 people for the past decade. They were also forced to have sex with LJH, their mother, which was video-taped by the father as blackmail.
When, and how, was it made known?
After failing to get their press conference broadcasted in November 2014, LJH and her sons turned to the site Nate (a Korean web portal; pann.nate is for user-shared stories). LJH first published a lengthy post on June 20, 2015, which was titled 'I Am A Filthy Woman But A Mother'. The post quickly went viral, nationally and internationally, and was follow-upped by more posts from LJH and her sons that provided further details.
